In Tune With Architecture

When this couple with three children inherited the family home, it was important that the remodel of the kitchen not only stay in tune with the architecture of the rest of the house, but also that it reincorporated various unique items of sentimental value. As well, the home’s location on a secluded lot with the kitchen looking onto park land, was to guide the design towards bringing the outside in. On the micro level, the client’s need for ease of use, quick accessibility to items, minimal walking in the prep area of the kitchen were of uttermost importance due to possible future mobility limitations. This, was to lead the design towards an open concept; open to eating area and to adjoining laundry and mudroom area, creating optimal flow between these much used rooms.
